The symptoms are as follows:

• QuickBooksDB26 system service starts and then immediately stops, giving the message, "The QuickBooksDB26 service on Local Computer started and then stopped.  Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
  
• Event Log Entry > Windows Logs > Application:
  
  "The description for Event ID 1 from source SQLANY 16.0 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
  
  If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
  
  The following information was included with the event: 
  
  QuickBooksDB26
  
  Unable to initialize requested communication links"
  
• .ND files for company files that have been upgraded to 2016 do not have an IP address listed in the file, and list the EngineName as "EngineName=QB_data_engine_26"; I think "data_engine" should be my server name?
  
• QuickBooks Database Server Manager indicates "QBDBMgrN not running on this computer" (although I think I got this message before, even when Quickbooks 2015 server seemed to be working as expected)
